Sure is quiet here…

Howdy all.  Going on day #2 without the kids being with me.  They moved in with Sha yesterday, detailed a bit in this earlier post.  It’s very quiet here.  Quiet enough that it’s given me some time to reflect on my life.

Before Sha packed all their stuff up yesterday, she left me a big plastic box of old stuff that’s mine.  I’m talking hundreds of pictures that go back a number of years as well as little trinkets I actually had as a teenager that I’d completely forgotten about.  I didn’t even know this box existed.  Various pictures from my old Navy days, life with my first wife, Kim, baby pictures of Matt and Mackenzie, pictures from when I was 16 and had broken my leg, etc.

When I saw the box, I immediately put it in the closet.  Not because I’m upset or anything.  I just needed to get it out of the way since it was blocking the bed.  :)  When Matt and Mackenzie come to visit me this weekend, I think the three of us will go through that box and do some remembering.  I think it’s time I share with them a bit about their old man’s past.  They’re at that age when I hope they’ll appreciate it and, perhaps, feel a bit closer to their dad.  We’ll see.

I will say this; I’m not in a rush to jump into anything else.  I need to take time to enjoy my life.  I’d like to enjoy Hussi when I bring her home from PA next week.  I’d like to stop a bit and smell the roses.  I’d like to take myself on long hikes.  I’d like to do many of the things I’d already written about in a prior post.

And, I’m gonna enjoy the kids more.

The best part is, I’m not in a hurry to do any of it.  And it’s gonna be good!  :)

All in due time.  One day at a time.  My mantra lately.

  1. Hey man,

Hang in there. You are always welcome to give me a call if you want to hang out.

  2. I love your attitude and outlook, even during this not so fun time. You are awesome, and we are so glad to have “met” you. Here’s hoping that we can all meet up in real life soon!

  3. Not sure where to start here–it’s been a looooong time. Stumbled upon your site recently, sounds like u r going through a rough patch-I’m truly sorry for that. Just take things one day at a time. Saw this post and had to comment, I remember when u broke your leg, hobbling into school w/crutches. Ahhh the good ‘ol days!

  4. Thx much, Scott. I’ll definitely be doing that. :) Really want to get hiking as soon as the weather turns nicer (seems to be doing that now so just a matter of time for me!)

We should make another trip to Capital Ale House sometime soon too!

Stacey, wow!! OMG it’s been a VERY long time!! Funny that not too long ago when I was visiting family in PA, I drove by your parents’ place. Does your dad still have his repair shop?

Yeah, it’s been a long road but I think I’m pulling through. I really appreciate your kind words and advice.

LOL! Geez that hobbled leg and crutches brings back some memories! I remember having my senior picture taken with my jacket and tie on with shorts since my cast was too wide for pants!

Please keep in touch, if you’d like! My email is wispdir at gmail.com. Great to hear from you!!
