Okay, Where’s a Good Place for Coffee???

Lately, I’ve been having the urge to buy good coffee. Not just a cup of coffee but fresh coffee that is, preferably, ground the same day (don’t have a grinder yet). I’m going to go out on a limb here and admit I like the “froo-froo” coffee, i.e. the flavored kind. I especially like blueberry-flavored coffee such as the one from Fasig’s in Pennsylvania (which I’m considering ordering online; it’s that good. Their peach-flavored coffee is flat out awesome too!) Does liking flavored coffee make me “not cool”? :D

Keurig B40I’m even considering purchasing a Keurig single cup unit as we had one at Stuart Hall in Staunton and that thing was just flat-out awesome. But, not being a true coffee expert, I don’t know if the K-Cups are fresh or what.

Anyway, here’s what I’m looking for:

  • Flavored such as blueberry (of course), perhaps chocolate, caramel, etc.
  • Or, non-flavored but robust enough that I could add flavored syrup (been doing that with my Maxwell House but it’s just not the same with that cheap-ass stuff).
  • I’m not a real heavy drinker (probably no more than 20 oz. per day) so I don’t need a lot of it. That being said, I’d like to keep the price down to less than $7 or $8 per pound.
  • I’m willing to drive a bit for it but would prefer to stay within the Richmond city-limits.

I’m open to suggestions, dear readers! Please feel free to leave a comment below and enlighten me!

Thanks!

Blueberry K-Cup

I don’t know, these things look reeaaaallly good! :)

  1. I usually just drink Starbucks coffee. It’s the closest place to me that sells half way decent coffee. I too am a flavored coffee drinker. Just can’t get myself used to regular.

  2. Yep, I’m the same way for now, JT. There’s a Starbucks literally across the street from where we live and work. I’ve made it a habit to go only once a week, on Sundays when I grab the paper and a piece of the low-fat blueberry crumb cake for Sha. That way my Starbucks addiction isn’t too ridiculous. :)

  3. I just went to Rostov’s for the first time. YOU MUST GO THERE! The employees are extremely helpful and pleasant, and I am currently enjoying an addiction to their Southern Pecan. SO GOOD! Rostov’s is on Main and Lombardy. If you live near Church Hill, I would suggest Captain Buzzy’s. Hell, I would recommend a special trip to Captain Buzzy’s. Grab a cup of the Church Hill blend while you’re in the store. You can also pick up a bag of ground beans to take home. Definitely try both of these places.

  4. Wow, thx for the excellent info Chloe! I greatly appreciate it! Rostov’s sounds like it might be a cool place to check out.

I’ve heard good things about Captain Buzzy’s too. Seems like a lot of fellow and fellowette bloggers recommend that one. Always enjoy visiting Church Hill (we reside near Libbie and Grove), especially the old WRVA tower (might be an idea for Richmond Free WiFi). Glad to hear they have a “local” blend as well.

Might be something to do this weekend!

  5. I am a Captain Buzzy’s fan. It is the only coffee I allow into the house. My favorite is the Buzzy’s blend.

  6. Good deal, Alicia! Thx much for your input too! That’s two for Captain Buzzy’s now. :) I may look into picking up a half pound of the Church Hill blend and of the Buzzy’s blend. Now I definitely need to take a trek out to Church Hill.

    Appreciate it!

  7. Buzzy’s Mocha Java is also worth the trip. FYI!

  8. LOL, Chloe! Wow, by the time I get done at Buzzy’s, I may need to run back home instead of drive! :D

    Thx again!
