Oh what to do w/ four kids this weekend?
Hmmmm….let’s see, considering my apartment will be losing power early Saturday morning for four to five hours (school is having renovations done and Dominion Power will be adding new equipment during that time), I’ll need to figure something out w/ the four kids. Options I’m thinking of are (obviously some depends on the weather, of course):
- Pocahontas Park and a picnic - we all love being outdoors and we all love to eat. ;) Had a blast the last time we were there.
- Children’s Museum of Richmond - they’re having a festival this weekend but at $30 per person there’s noooo way I can afford to do that. Do they feed your kids lobster for that kind of money??
- Civil War Museum - been a while since we’ve been there although the little ones may not find it all that interesting.
- Frostfest - very good friend of mine is coming up from Portsmouth to attend this at the RIR complex. I’m not a HAM but it might be cool to do.
Possible road trips:
- Mariner’s Museum in Newport News - someone suggested me on Twitter recently. I used to live in NN and, since I’m such a nautical buff (ex-Navy here), that might be cool. Again, the little ones might not like it much, although Kaleb does have a thing for anything that moves and Taylor usually just goes w/ the flow.
- Virginia Beach - I haven’t been down there in ages and I’ve heard it’s changed so much that I’m not sure what we’d do when we got there. Think I’ll stick with something closer and research that one for a later time.
Another friend of mine operates the Weekly Rant website which is the area’s comprehensive events calendar. I’ll definitely keep an eye out there as well. One thing I wish he’d include (hint, hint, Jon.
) is, perhaps, a family category.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears!
All in all, I’m looking forward to having all the kids together again.
Y’all have a good one!
