Mid-week post…

Howdy all.  Really want to post a little bit every day but timing proves to be a bit difficult.  :)  I guess I’ll let my Twitter feed speak for me!  :D  I’ve also been checking out Pownce but I just don’t think I’ll use it.  Seems to have cooler features than Twitter, actually, such as file and event sharing but I don’t think it has the mass reach that Twitter does.  Also, it seems restricted to only one interface which is based on Adobe AIR.  I found out that AIR apps don’t work very well on my XP box even w/ 2Gb of memory and nothing else open.  The app suffers from a lot of keyboard lag which is a bit frustrating.  That being said, I’ve been using my MacBook for posting from AIR-based apps.

Anyway, I had a nice lunch today with Eric Palmer, AKA DaddyOh on Twitter.  Learned a lot about University of Richmond’s web services team and their content management/news archival system.  Sounds like an awesome, centralized environment there running on Cascade.  Also talked a bit about Richmond Free Wireless and some possibilities in rural areas out near Craigsville and Dansville.  I really need to get back into that project as soon as I get my head out from under water a bit.  :)

At work, I’m messing with Exchange 2007 running a 64-bit 2003 server.  Had set up Exchange 2003 at Stuart Hall which went flawlessly but 2007 is an entirely different application the way the server is managed/maintained.  We won’t talk about the asshole-ish comments my coworker (the “God” in his own eyes) has been making.  Good thing the administration still likes me.  ;)

On a personal note, my new workout at the Y is going great.  I’m making solid progress and am almost at the level I was when I was working out so hard at Gold’s in Staunton.  Probably another two or three weeks, I’ll be there.  I’m averaging between six and 6.5 miles a night for 30 minutes on the treadmill then doing four to five free-weight exercises and alternative body areas every other day.  All in all, I’m spending between an hour to an hour and a half at the Y.  Kids love it since they have an awesome childcare facility.  I’m finding I’m even going there on the weekends if I’m bored and don’t feel like sitting around the apartment when Sha has the kids.  I may take the older kids there too on the weekends as it offers all kinds of amenities such as pool tables, air hockey, etc.

Anyway, I think that’s pretty good for now.

Have a good one!
