Good weekend…

Actually had a very good weekend.  Thought my plans got squashed a bit yesterday but I managed to get to Ikea today instead.  I’m planning on purchasing some furniture very soon since a lot of the furniture here is Sha’s which she’s planning on taking with her when she gets her permanent place, of course.  Yes, it’s only fair.  Besides, that’s a good excuse for me to get some new furniture, something I haven’t done for yeeeeears (in fact, I’m blogging right now from a very well worn leather recliner that’s given me about 10+ years of faithful service but has obviously seen better days.)

Anyway, the sofa I looked at, pictured to the right, is very reasonably priced, something I may be able to pick up in a few months.  Extremely comfortable and very kid-resistant, i.e stain-proof, etc. as well as pet-proof too. That’ll obviously be a good thing when Hussi gets here!

I did purchase a nice lamp, putting my creativeness to use (far stretch for me!) by replacing the very ugly, 70-ish lamp in the living room with something a little more postmodern, boasting a very cool high-energy bulb that’s only 24 watts but puts out a 60 watt equivalent.  In addition to the lamp, I also purchased two king size pillows that normally went for $15 each but Ikea had an awesome sale, marking them down to $1 each.  Insane.  :)

I also saw a few end tables and wardrobes I liked but I’ll probably purchase the sofa first as the seating in my living room is fairly non-existent.  Really not into having people sit on the floor unless we’re living in a hippie commune.  ;)

Sha must have done a good job wearing the kids out yesterday and today because they’ve been very good each day.  Went down well at sleep time and we even very cuddly as well.  Kaleb had a good time watching the last ten minutes of Top Gun prior to getting his PJ’s on.  All I had to do was mention “airplanes!!” and that was it!  :D

I also managed to take the kids to the Y yesterday morning before she picked them up where I continued my 6 to 6.5 miles on the treadmill.  Makes me think long and hard about entering the Ukrop’s 10k in April.  If I can consistently run for that long for 30 minutes, I’m thinking I might actually have a chance at finishing!  LOL!  :D  The Y has a training program starting soon that I might take advantage of.  We’ll just have to see if I can work it into my schedule and all.

Even though it was a bit cold today, I enjoyed going to Ikea.  Hoping the week ahead will be a good one.

Y’all have a good one!
