Change of plans…

Well, yesterday, I mentioned that we were planning on venturing out today to look at a few gyms in the area and considering joining one of them.  We won’t be doing that anytime soon simply because of the expense and being a one and a half income family, it’s just too risky for us to consider doing that right now.  So, needless to say, we’ll stick with the “girly” gym at the school until we can consider it again.  We’ve made sacrifices before and will continue to do so.

This might sound petty to those that read this post.  But considering we worked out daily when we lived in Staunton (I was there about two hours a day using the plate machines and got up to benching 275 lbs. as well as having kept up in an hour-long spinning class every other day; not bad for an “old guy”! :-) ), it’s been a real kick-in-the-head not to have a serious gym to frequent.  The school gym is okay, however, a lot of the equipment is devoted for high-school girls in mind and the cardio equipment obviously needs to be kept up (grinding gears/whining bands) and, probably most importantly, there isn’t any child care where we could drop the kids off while we work out.

My friend, Scott, suggested that we might see if the school has some kid of arrangement with UofR since so many students go there and a lot of our faculty takes classes there.  That’s a great idea so I’ll be sure to look into that.  Hopefully it wouldn’t be too expensive if anything.

Enough bitching.  Think we’re going to head out to Belle Isle since we have to stay close to campus due to my being “on duty.”

Have a good one!
