Another Short Post…
I’m just full of “short ones” this week.
Too tired and busy to post anything “meaningful.” Perhaps over the weekend I’ll do that.
Anyway, today started out kind of rough but ended on a good note.
Got a bit overwhelmed at work. I’m not kidding here. At one time, I actually had five, FIVE people standing in line to talk to me about their computers, the majority of them needing to know how to print. HOW TO PRINT!!! Haven’t these people been using computers for the last five or six+ years? I mean, WOW! So, I gave them a crash course on how to print.
But, before that, we had a shared chapel service with St. Christopher’s School. That was nice. However, when it came to taking communion, I abstained. I just didn’t feel comfortable with the way the service went. It takes me back to my Lutheran upbringing and makes me realize that I’m not a “religious stuffy” and that our church it’s a lot more liberal than conservative. Please don’t get me wrong. If anyone wishes to practice in a conservative church such as an Episcopalian, then by all means! Personally, I think God loves us all, no matter what religion we practice. I, personally, enjoy a contemporary, upbeat yet educational service over a stand-up, sit-down, stand-up, sit-down and turn around to do the dosie-do, type of service.
Fortunately, no one glared at me while I sat there, watching everyone around me mosey up to the pulpit. One of my coworkers, who’s Columbian, sat next to me and just kind of winked at each other. He knew what I was thinking and vice versa.
After that, I got a personal tour of St. Chris by our interim Technology Director who also does the same there. Great guy. Really knows his stuff and is extremely tactful. He’s definitely an inspiration. It’s especially cool that we seem to have similar ideas and realize that St. Catherine’s technology department is simply spread a little too thin. So, we’re working on that.
I did end up spending about five minutes to myself in the server room just to get myself together. It was that insane. But, it helped!
Tonight, I met with three local bloggers I respect very much. Jon Bailes of River City Rapids, Daniel Farrell of Farrell IT and Ross Catrow of RVABlogs. Met at Sticky Rice which was pretty cool. I wasn’t hungry so I didn’t order anything but I really enjoyed the atmosphere there.
We met regarding a possible RFW project involving the community blogs and other organizations. Can’t say much more than that publicly but if it works out, it could really help the project out. Hope to post more within 60 days.
Anyway, I guess this one, too, turned out to be a bit longer. I really need to start adding pics again!
Back to running in the morning then back to my regular weight room schedule next week when the campus fitness center has 24/7 access. Woo hoo!!!
Have a great night!
