The Geography of Bliss: One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World by Eric Weiner
My review
rating: 4 of 5 stars
A very good book that allowed me to appreciate how people in other countries define happiness. This book took me on a roller coaster ride covering everything from the Global Database of Happiness to the most unhappy place in the world. I was especially intrigued with the chapter on Iceland. I guess living in the dark and staying continuously drunk would keep just about anyone happy.

Better Off: Flipping the Switch on Technology by Eric Brende
rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book really took me back to the the days of living simply, especially with me growing up just a bit beyond Pennsylvania Dutch country. Brende and his wife, Mary, live life simply yet enthusiastically as they learn to co-habitate with Amish-like people. Those of us who feel consumed by technology and the day-to-day flurry of society will appreciate this book.

Yep, I voted this morning. I figured everyone else is blogging about it, I might as well throw my two cents in too. I won’t share who I voted for because, frankly, that’s no one’s business but my own. Not in the mood for pissing contests. I chose whom I felt was the best candidate for my own beliefs and issues. ‘Nuff said.
Looks like there have been a lot of issues w/ the polls around the area this morning. I didn’t encounter any problems with my polling station (of course I got there at 5:50am after a short run w/ Hussi; yes, I’m a sick person!). Waited in line for about 35 minutes talking with a nice lady who recently retired from St. Christopher’s and also saw a few coworkers there too who braved the rains.
After I voted, I trekked a block to Starbucks for my free coffee for voting but didn’t feel like standing in yet another line so I trekked back to work for my free breakfast.nbsp; Now I’m all settled in at work and waiting for the polls to start coming in.
Good luck to everyone!

I’m in the midst of watching the presidential debate on CNN which was set up in town hall-format, something I’m finding uniquely profound in that it’s giving the American people a huge opportunity to interactive directly with the candidates both from the local audience and across the Internet. At the same time, I’m also tracking #current and #debate08 on Twitter (feel free to request to follow me) using the TweetDeck client, as portrayed below:

TweetDeck updates everytime the two channels mentioned above change, meaning I’m being inundated with information from both CNN and the Twitter community. Granted, many of the Tweets coming across the channels are matters of opinion, of course, however, there have also been a number of intelligent and thought provoking responses as well.
I have to say this is arguably the most exciting debate in recent years thanks to technology which has allowed the American people to truly get to know the candidates and their respective parties.
Definitely going to be a very interesting outcome come next month.
